Trump to announce first transgender aide as new White House staff

President Donald Trump is expected to announce Monday that he will hire transgender staffers, and the White House is expecting the first to be in place by Tuesday.

The announcement is expected shortly after a White House ceremony with transgender staffers and advocates at the White, First and Oval Office, which will be held at 2:30 p.m.

A senior White House official confirmed the news on Monday, saying the White has a list of candidates and the president will make a decision within a few days.

The official said Trump has spoken to several people, but no decision has been made yet.

Trump is known for making his decisions on an expedited basis.

The president has been outspoken about the importance of transgender rights, especially for his children.

Trump announced in April that he would allow transgender students to use the bathroom matching their gender identity, after being asked about the issue in a TV interview.
