Posted October 24, 2018 09:15:10 When your locally-owned millworks once made the largest in the nation, you might not know it.
The world’s largest millworks, at the heart of Australia’s largest city, have been shuttered since 2015 due to the impact of the cyclone.
The National Centre for Rural Electrification (NCRE) said the closure of the millworks would impact 1,400 people.
“The closure of these millworks will also affect many others in the industry, including many small businesses, as well as many of the people who work at the mill,” NCRE said.
“This has a major impact on the lives of our local residents and will have a huge impact on our economy and quality of life.”
“The NCRE is committed to supporting the affected community through the restoration of the community’s millworks.”
We understand that the closure will impact many families and families are also affected by the closure, as we know many families have had to find temporary housing or take on new jobs.
“The closure comes as the Australian Bureau of Statistics released data for October.
The number of people living in households with a disability grew from 14,600 in 2017 to 17,400 in 2018, while the number of households without a working family member increased from 2,800 to 2,950.
