In January, a federal judge ordered Louisiana’s millwork distributor to begin paying back more than $15 million in payments it received from the state.
The orders were in response to the Louisiana Economic Development Corp.’s decision to close millwork programs in the state in 2017 and 2018.
The distributor was also fined $3 million by the federal government.
A representative from the Louisiana Department of Labor and Industry confirmed that the state will continue to pay millwork distributors in Louisiana, but would not provide a specific number.
The company also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“It’s unfortunate that this happened to us and we didn’t do anything to stop it,” said Lisa Ritchie, the manager of Millwork Distributors Louisiana.
“But we’re working hard to get it right.
We’re trying to get our distributors back into business.”
